About me

My name is Eva Estlander and I am a Yoga Alliance Certified yoga teacher (RYT 200) and the founder of Moonah Wear. Some of my many passions include yoga and wellness and diving into the world of spirituality. I am a firm believer in kindness and that what you put out is what you’ll get in. Everything is energy.

I grew up in Helsinki, Finland, but always felt drawn to the beach lifestyle. After having graduated with a Master's Degree in Economics from the Swedish School of Economics , I decided to change my life completely. I packed my bags, left my marketing job and moved to the other side of the world, to a little beach town called Sayulita, on the Pacific coast of Mexico. As I wrote my thesis about wellness tourism and customer behaviour, I also ended up founding a surf & yoga retreat company.

After well over 6 years in the tropics, running yoga retreats, working with wedding and event production, as well as working for a big luxury hotel, I finally decided to repack my bags and head back home to the North. I am now based out of Helsinki, Finland, however I still host retreats in my other home of Sayulita.

After having relocated back to my Scandinavian roots, I wanted to bring a piece of that Mexican joy and vibrance with me. Slowly but surely the idea of creating my own yoga clothing line started taking form. The idea behind Moonah Wear is to create cute, yet functional clothing without harming the planet. The name Moonah is a derivant from the word moon and therefor a celebration and appreciation for the moon and the effect it has on all of us through its phases. I want to inspire women to find their shine and remind them that no matter what phase their in, they are always whole (just like the moon.) Learn more about Moonah Wear here.

My Yogic Journey

My yogic path started with Ashtanga. Some years later after an ankle injury, I started feeling more drawn to other styles. Today, Vinyasa Flow and Yin are the closest to my heart.

As a yoga teacher, I combine the power of Vinyasa flow with the restorative energy in Yin. In a typical yoga class, you will feel the warmth of the flowing movement, and the strength in holding poses with integrity. People say I have a gentle way of guiding your body in to proper alignment, and I always aim to work to meet each of my students individual needs. I believe that these two practices complement each other and are the perfect combination for a calm, balanced body, mind and spirit. My classes build strength, create flexibility and inspire play.

I think that it is important to keep an open heart and a willingness to learn from others. Therefore I must always stay a student.

I also believe that by practicing yoga and coming into alignment with your highest self, you will live a more fulfilling life and make choices from a more centered place. After all, life is all about choices.

After years of teaching and studying yoga, my spiritual practice has branched out to include teachings about the subtle body, and in particular the Chakra System, resonance and sound healing, as well as the lunar cycle and the Divine Feminine.

My Teachers

I have been fortunate enough to get the chance to practice with many amazing teachers. I did my Yoga Teacher Training (RYT200) in Nicaragua with Satu Tuomela (FIN) and Ramesh Tarun Narine (CAN) in 2013. I’ve also been privileged to practice with great teachers such as Jennifer Isaacson (US), Vanessa Morett (MEX), Taran Bhattal (IND), Audra Rose StanleyCarmela Carlyle (US) and Taisuke Tanimura (US) amongst others.  I recently completed a 20H training in Katonah Yoga with Elisa Kuuttila.

I‘ve also done a training in NSR (Neuro Somatic Reprogramming), which is something I love to blend into my Yin classes. In addition to NSR, I’ve also completed trainings in Reiki (Level 1) and Sound Healing with Terhi Elo.
