Come practice with me

Eva Estlander teaches Vinyasa and Yin Yoga, and a mix of these two. She holds a Master’s in Economics, speaks four languages fluently and is a wicked marketing & event wizard

Hi, my name is Eva Estlander and I am a Yoga Alliance Certified yoga teacher (RYT 200) and a marketing specialist balancing my life between these two career choices. My passions include yoga and wellness, anything purple, puppies (all animals for that matter and you won’t see me eating a burger) and traveling. I am a firm believer in kindness and that what you put out is what you’ll get in. Everything is energy and we are the masters of our own lives.

I grew up in Helsinki, Finland, but always felt drawn to the beach lifestyle. After having graduated with a Master's Degree in Economics from the Swedish School of Economics (yup, a pretty massive change from numbers to poses), I decided to change my life completely. I packed my bags, left my marketing job and moved to the other side of the world, to a tiny little beach town on the Pacific coast. As I wrote my thesis about wellness tourism and customer behavior, it might not surprise you I found myself running a retreat company based out of Sayulita, Mexico.

After living in the tropics for nearly 7 years, teaching and running various retreats, working with weddings and event production as well as working for a big luxury hotel, I finally decided to repack my bags and head back home to the North. I am now based out of my original home of Helsinki, Finland, however I still host retreats in my other home of Sayulita.

My yogic path started through practicing Ashtanga while studying economics, but slowly and after a severe ankle injury, I started feeling more drawn to different styles including Vinyasa Flow and Yin, which are now the closest to my heart.

As a yoga teacher, I combine the power of Vinyasa flow with the restorative energy in Yin. In a typical yoga class, you will feel the warmth of the flowing movement, and the strength in holding poses with integrity.  People say I have a gentle way of guiding your body in to proper alignment, and I always aim to work to meet each of my students individual needs. I believe that these two practices complement each other and are the perfect combination for a calm, balanced body, mind and spirit. My classes build strength, create flexibility and inspire play.

I think that to continue on this path, I must always keep an open heart and a willingness to learn from others. Therefore I must always stay a student.

I also believe that by practicing yoga and coming into alignment with your highest self, you will live a more fulfilling life and make choices from a more centered place. After all, life is all about choices.

Find some testimonials on my FB page. Come join me on for a Chakra Yoga class, a vinyasa and Yin mix class constructed around the seven chakras of the body at Pranama Kallio every Thursday 5.45-7pm. I also teach a Yin class at 7.30-8.45pm on Thursday. Both of these classes are open to all levels and are taught in either English or Finnish depending on the students.

I recently completed a training in NSR (Neuro Somatic Reprogramming), which is something I love to blend into my Yin classes. I have also studied Reiki healing, which is something I like to incorporate into my classes during Savasana. I am planning to complete another Yoga Teacher Training (RYT300) in 2019.

My teachers

I have been fortunate enough to get the chance to practice with many amazing teachers. I did my Yoga Teacher Training (RYT200) in Nicaragua with Satu Tuomela (FIN) and Ramesh Tarun Narine (CAN). I've also been privileged to practice with great teachers such as Jennifer Isaacson (US), Vanessa Morett (MEX), Taran Bhattal (IND), Audra Rose StanleyCarmela Carlyle (US) and Taisuke Tanimura (US) amongst others.

THURSDAY YOGA CLASSES AT PRANAMA KALLIO

I teach two weekly classes at Pranama Kallio (Kolmas Linja 28) every Thursday. Join me for a Chakra Class at 5.45pm-7pm and then right after there is a candle light Yin class. Classes are open for all levels and no previous experience is required in order to participate. Classes are “pay what you can” (notice not what you want) and a fair energy exchange is between 7-20 euros.

The Chakra class is a Vinyasa Flow class structured around the seven energy centers of the body (the Chakras = Wheel of energy). Each week we will focus on one of the seven chakras and I will always announce this in either my Instagram posts or stories. The seven energy centers are: the Root Chakra, the Sacral Chakra, the Solar Plexus Chakra, the Heart Chakra, the throat Chakra, the 3rd Eye Chakra and the Crown Chakra. More info on chakras can be found on the blog here.

Vinyasa Yoga

VINYASA YOGA

Flow Yoga or Vinyasa Yoga is one of the most popular styles of yoga. This practice increases flexibility, endurance and strength by linking each asana into a flowing sequence. Vinyasa Yoga is a a faster paced and diverse style since the sequence always changes.

YIN YOGA & RESTORATIVE YOGA

Yin Yoga is a slow-paced, meditative practice with mostly floor based or seated poses that are held for a longer period of time (2-10 minutes). Instead of activating the muscles, we are aiming to relax into each pose and bring our awareness to our breath cycle. Most of the poses target the dense connective tissues of the body - often in the hips, pelvis and lower back.  This practice is perfect for anyone looking for a more mediative and relaxing class.
